General Motors is a U.S. car company founded in 1908. Among the world's largest car company, General Motors produces cars, vans, SUVs and trucks in 34 countries through the following brands: Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, GM Daewoo, Holden, Opel, Vauxhall and Wuling. The company also collaborates with Suzuki Motor Corporation, Isuzu Motors Ltd., Chrysler LLC, Daimler AG, BMW AG, Toyota Motor Corporation.
General Motors, based in Detroit (Michigan, USA), employs 204,000 people worldwide and is present in 140 countries. The main market is represented by the United States, followed by China, Brazil, Germany, UK, Canada and Italy. General Motors has acquired the operation from General Motors Corporation in July 2009 following the declaration of bankruptcy and to shift administration controlled by the U.S. government.
In Italy GM is present through General Motors Italy with headquarters in Rome. The GM vehicles sold in the Peninsula are covered by the Opel brand, which since 1929 is part of the U.S. company (Opel is a German automobile manufacturer founded in 1862 by Adam Opel). Besides cars, vans and SUVs, General Motors Italy sells commercial vehicles. For aassenger transport there is the Opel Vivaro Tour up to nine seats, offered with four common rail diesel engine and a gasoline one.
